The global circular water systems

The “global water cycle” refers to all systems that move water globally. Whether through precipitation , run-off, or evaporation, or over land,
the subsurface, or the oceans.
More than 500,000 cubic kilometers of water are moved. This corresponds to a precipitation level of just under one meter on a global average.

Precipitation

Meteorology denotes “precipitation” as the fallout of water from the atmosphere in a liquid and/or solid-state that can be measured or observed on the ground.
There are three main types of precipitation: a) that which falls, such as rain, snow, sleet, hail, etc.; b) deposited precipitation such as dew, hoar frost, fog wets; and c) deposited precipitation such as blankets of snow, hail, ice, etc.

Water

is a connection of hydrogen and oxygen

Water (chemical formula H2O) is a chemical compound of the two elements hydrogen and oxygen. Both are the Earth’s most common chemical elements. Our Earth’s surface consists of about 71 percent, and the human adult body consists of up to 60 percent water. Water is fundamental for our planet’s life. In the atmosphere, water vapor represents 4 volume percent.

Water is crucial in balancing the Earth’s temperature because it can store and release heat in its various aggregate states (rain, snow, ice, and steam).

Precipitation level

The precipitation height indicates how high liquid precipitation would cover a horizontal ground surface in a specific time interval if theoretically nothing of this surface can run off, evaporate or infiltrate. The accuracy of measurement is tenths of a millimeter.
1 millimeter of precipitation corresponds to a precipitation amount of 1 liter per square meter.
